PYRAMID HOME MADE UNESCO'S SITE













A small town of Alberobello in Bari province, southern region of Puglia, Italy has a home look different from other buildings. Referred to as trulli, dry stone hut is made of limestone slabs stacked on each other mutually and then forming the roof of the pyramid, dome, or cone.This building does not use mortar as reinforcement, but the structure remains stable and sturdy stand. Buildings called trulli was built during the period of history, when that point is taxed residents around the building or residence that is quite high. Then the idea came from residents cleverly to make the trulli to avoid taxation is quite high.

Trulli was built using limestone rocks collected from neighboring fields. Structural walls placed directly on the base rocks. Wall then pierced by small windows, while fireplaces, ovens and niches are hidden behind thick walls. The roof is constructed with two layers which can prevent the rain water flowed in from the roof and stopped into a channel which then flows into the well under the house.


The interior of the building is equipped with wooden equipment, such as door frames and so on. Then trulli is also decorated with wooden floors and wooden stairs in it. Thick stone walls trulli is to protect the population from the heat of the sun can be warm during the winter and be cool in the summer.


Construction of this building began in the mid-16th century and continued until the early 20th century. Development trulli declined later in the 19th century. Sangking high cost of building materials of the house, finally home construction is no longer built in Alberobello. Some parts of the relics of the 18th century, 19, and in the first decade of the 20th century still exist in Alberobello.


However, the building is only used as a shop, restaurant and inn. In fact, most still inhabited by locals. Because of this unique building, building 1,500 trulli of Alberobello located in urban areas designated as UNESCO world heritage sites that attract thousands of tourists to the city's world.
